Every year, the two-and-a-half-month fishing moratorium runs from 12:00 on June 16 to 12:00 on September 1. During this period, all fishing activities—except for hook-and-line fishing—are prohibited across the entire Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea north of 35°N latitude.
This year, the fishing moratorium area, duration, and types of permitted fishing activities in the Dalian region remain unchanged. The closure for the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea north of 35°N latitude will begin at 12:00 on June 16 and conclude at 12:00 on September 1. Meanwhile, from 12:00 on September 1 through September 16, fishing vessels based in Dalian are still prohibited from operating in waters south of 35°N latitude.
During the fishing moratorium, all fishing vessels must return to port, crew members must disembark, and fishing nets must be stored ashore. No organizations or individuals are permitted to supply fuel or ice to vessels required to observe the ban—specifically those engaged in trawling, purse-seining, or encircling net operations—or to engage in activities such as purchasing, transporting, marketing, or storing fish products. Dalian’s three enforcement teams—comprising fisheries inspectors, port supervisors, and vessel inspectors—will conduct joint patrols at sea, with violators subject to fines. Additionally, during the closed season, Dalian will carry out comprehensive inspections and maintenance on all fishing vessels, while also providing safety training to personnel involved in fisheries production.
